In March of 2007, a fire partially destroyed the Seneca Grade School. The 1920’s portion of the building was fully destroyed by the fire, leaving the rest of the building with substantial damage. Following the fire, HTK worked quickly with the School District, the community and the code officials to ready temporary spaces for students to continue their school year in.

The new education facility serves the District’s Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students. The facility is adjacent to the High School, which allows the District to share amenities such as the gymnasium, band room, classrooms and parking between the two schools. This arrangement also allows the Middle School students to walk safely between the buildings for certain classes and activities. The new Elementary and Middle Schools feature modern classrooms, a cafeteria and full kitchen, a full gymnasium and locker rooms, a music room, a media center with a library and computer room, administrative offices and playgrounds. Abundant natural lighting, durable materials, highly energy efficient mechanical and plumbing systems, advanced lighting control systems and integrated outdoor areas make this building a well equipped, modern learning environment.
