- What We Do
It is with mixed emotions and sincere gratitude for his service that we are announcing the retirement of R. Keith Blackburn, AIA, at the end of December 2020.
Upon graduation from K State in 1984, Keith began his career with TBS Architects in Topeka before joining HTK in 1987. Mr. Blackburn has served the profession tirelessly for 36 years, 23 of those as an HTK shareholder. Keith has been instrumental in shaping the continued success of HTK. As Vice President in charge of Corporate Governance, Keith has demonstrated a commitment to our clients and the mentoring and development of our staff.
Mr. Blackburn started and led HTK’s Military Studio and has grown it to the preeminent military design practice in our area. Keith has been instrumental in the support and design of complex modern Military facilities supporting operations process and unit integrity across various armed forces in Kansas and Missouri. A sampling of some key HTK projects and breadth of his work include: Larned State Security Hospital, Ft. Leavenworth Barracks, 35th Infantry Division Headquarters, Joint Forces Headquarters, Wichita Army NG Readiness Center, Squadron Operations Facility, Smoky Valley High School and Nemaha Central Schools.
Keith will miss the great people at HTK, the enjoyment of traveling the state to see his clients and he hopes to stay in touch with all the great friends he has made along the way.
Keith and his wife, Emy, are looking forward to spending more time together, traveling to see family, and enjoying the trails and beauty of the mountains in Colorado. Although we will no longer see him in the office, we know he cares deeply about HTK and our clients. His building designs will stand the test of time and provide enjoyment for many generations.
HTK Architects would like to express our extreme gratitude to Keith & Emy for everything they have done to support our team. The HTK Team wishes them well in their next phase of life.
