Let’s Help is a not-for-profit organization that has served Topeka & Shawnee County since 1960. They are committed to building a better community by inspiring hope, promoting self-sufficiency and breaking the cycle of poverty one person at a time. Let’s Help found themselves in need of a new location as their previous building is in the path of the I-70 Polk-Quincy Viaduct project. HTK helped navigate Let’s Help through the process of determining if a ground up building or a renovated location were the best options for the organization and their needs.
The adaptive reuse of the existing vacant state agency building allowed Let’s Help to continue to serve the citizens of the community with modernized spaces, greater flexibility, and improved energy efficiency and security. At the new location Let’s Help is continuing to offer their services of their Clothing Bank and Career Closet, Free Community Lunch and Food Pantry, Older Kansas Employment Program, Adult Basic Education & GED Center and Comprehensive Emergency Services.
The building proved to be a versatile and flexible space that allowed for as much or as little of the building to be locked down from visitors at the main entrance as needed that day.
