This holiday season, HTK Architects joined forces with Kendall Construction and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas to create something truly magical for the 2024 Miracle on Kansas Ave Parade. Inspired by the classic tale of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, this collaboration brought together creativity, community, and holiday spirit to delight paradegoers of all ages.
HTK began the process by producing detailed renderings of the Grinch-themed concept, showcasing a whimsical Whoville brought to life. These renderings weren’t just a roadmap for the project—they became a source of excitement for the Bigs and Littles involved. Seeing their vision come to life gave everyone a sense of ownership and anticipation as they geared up for the big day.
Kendall Construction played a vital role in bringing the concept to life, constructing the main forms of the float. From towering Whoville buildings to the Grinch’s iconic mountain, their craftsmanship provided the perfect foundation for the group’s collective creativity.
Then, the real magic began! A dedicated team of volunteers from HTK, Kendall Construction, and Big Brothers Big Sisters worked together to paint, decorate, and add all the finishing touches. The result? A stunning float that captured the playful charm of Whoville and the heartwarming transformation of the Grinch.
On parade day, the float became a centerpiece of holiday joy, with participants from Big Brothers Big Sisters riding along and waving to the crowd. The collaborative effort not only brought smiles to the faces of onlookers but also created lasting memories for everyone involved.
The Miracle on Kansas Ave Parade is a cherished tradition in Topeka, and HTK Architects is proud to have been part of this year’s celebration. By combining our design expertise with the hands-on skills of Kendall Construction and the enthusiasm of the Bigs and Littles, we turned a storybook vision into a holiday reality.
