Kansas National Guard, Field Maintenance Center

HTK Architects proudly completed the Field Maintenance Shop for the Kansas Air National Guard (KANG) and Army National Guard (AGD), enhancing the Wichita Readiness Center. Designed with a focus on efficiency and sustainability, this project achieved LEED Silver certification, with expectations for a Gold rating.

Spanning 58,452 square feet and valued at $22,746,000, the Field Maintenance Shop is a state-of-the-art facility divided into two primary sections: work bays and support offices.

Work Bays

The facility features six expansive double-length work bays, each measuring approximately 40’x140’. Key features include:

  • Two bays equipped with 40’ wide cranes and a hook height of 25’
  • A designated bay for vehicle warming and staging
  • A specialized vehicle wash bay
  • General-purpose bays with integrated oil and lubrication systems, vehicle exhaust systems, oversized roll-up doors, drive-through capabilities, and computer stations

Support Offices

The support area includes essential spaces for daily operations and maintenance:

  • General Supervisor’s office
  • Production control area
  • Inspection library
  • Common IT facilities
  • General classroom and conference room
  • Physical fitness area and break room

Additional facilities comprise:

  • Battery room
  • Laundry room
  • Flammable materials storage
  • Bulk Petroleum, Oils, and Lubricants (POL) storage
  • Bulk equipment storage
  • Tool room and supply room
  • Controlled waste area
