HTK was selected by the Kansas Department of Transportation to lead programming and site analysis for the new District 1 Headquarters, replacing an outdated facility that no longer met space, operational, or technological needs. The project includes planning for administrative offices, equipment repair shops, and a materials testing lab, with a focus on space optimization for current functions and future growth.

The new headquarters incorporates ergonomic workspaces, improved HVAC systems for thermal comfort, and infrastructure for future technology integration. The facility is being developed with consideration for site security, redundancy in operations, and accessibility for all users. Programming also laid the foundation for phased relocation and long-term functionality of all District One operations.
