HTK Architects is proud to announce the promotion of Scott W. Hazelitt to Associate! Throughout his time with us, Scott has provided exceptional commitment to our clients, projects, and to the internal development of our firm. This promotion reflects our growth and long-term plans for the continued success of HTK Architects and our team members. Please join us in welcoming our new associate!
Scott is a strong leader in the firm, and will join the ownership team alongside principals Mark Franzen, Gordon Kimble, Elizabeth Johnson, Zachary Snethen, and Maria Kutina. Scott has played an integral role in HTK’s continued success through his unwavering commitment to clients, his excellent communication skills, and his attention to technical detailing, which have proven immeasurably valuable in his projects’ success. “Understanding how things work, and how they relate to the rest of the world is an important part of being a good architect,” Scott says.
Scott has an established history with our firm, having first interned with HTK in 1986-87. “So many great memories,” he stated, when asked to reflect on that time. “I can remember Gary Karst in the corner of the drafting room, creating these amazing pen and ink renderings.” After graduating from the University of Kansas, Scott spent time gaining valuable experience in other design firms as well as on the Owner’s side of the table, before returning home to HTK in 2015. His architectural career is comprised of 35+ years as a Project Architect and Senior Project Manager on a variety of significant and complex projects, ranging from Performing Arts Theaters and Early Education Centers, to Athletic Stadiums and Career + Technical Education facilities. His recent design projects include several school districts in the wider Kansas City area: Raymore-Peculiar, De Soto, Olathe, Gardner-Edgerton, Bonner Springs/Edwardsville, KCK, Harrisburg, and Wellsville. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see how our projects impact people’s lives in a positive way. The stories coming out of the new Cedar Trails Exploration Center are truly inspirational.”
Throughout his career with HTK, Scott has consistently demonstrated leadership qualities and values, inspiring those around him. In this new Associate role, Scott will continue to lead and expand the Professional Development and mentorship efforts of HTK, investing in people and perpetuating excellence in design. “HTK has a long-standing tradition of mentoring and training younger staff in all aspects of the profession. One of my main areas of focus as an Associate will be to continue and enhance that legacy.”
We are thrilled to have Scott join our ownership team and continue to guide HTK towards and ever-brighter future!
