The Olathe School District’s IT Department was originally spread throughout 4 facilities within the District. HTK was challenged to design a new single 25,000 GSF building to house all IT staff members with 3 areas of emphasis: one area to hold training sessions for District staff members, one area to serve as a modern, open office setting for IT staff and one area to be used for IT storage/ repair. Within the storage/ repair suite, a storm hardened Network Operations Center was created to house all District wide servers. This allows the servers to be in one, District centralized facility for upkeep and maintenance.

Within the Olathe Technology Support Center, three training rooms are designed, with one being designated for computer lab demonstrations. Computer vendors can consequently come to the facility and work with the IT staff on computer lab set up. Also included within the Olathe Technology Support Center is a video production suite, which has 2 editing offices, a control room and a broadcast studio for interviews or news broadcasts that can be distributed throughout the School District.
